[edit] Welcome to Story Time at the Snoqualmie Library!

Each week, your specially trained children's librarian creates a program of stories, songs and movement activities. These are designed to help parents learn to foster and engage the early literacy skills needed to prepare their child(ren) to read. Story times help to develop a love of reading and a greater appreciation for the diversity of words which make up language. Story time is a listening time but also offers opportunities and an atmosphere which encourages children to learn and to imagine. Story times are positive times and create a positive attitude towards books, words, listening, reading and the library!

We hope to create a comfortable and happy atmosphere for all those attending.

• Please plan to arrive on time.
• If you arrive after the beginning, please come in quietly and join the group with as little fuss as possible.
• Parents, grandparents and/or caregivers are expected to attend (and to have fun, too!) Please stay with your children at all times.
• Good story time manners include sitting on the floor, listening and participating. Gentle reminders from you are appreciated.
• Adults are expected to participate and model for their children. Your kids look to you. I need you to help me sing and dance!
• Please turn off your cell phone, put down your magazine and shush your adult friends. I encourage you to stick around for adult visiting after story time.
• On days when youngsters are just not happy to be here or a younger sibling has had enough, it's OK to leave and try again next week.
• Please keep sick kids home.
• We encourage you to visit the library to browse and check out books before or after the story time program.
• We want children to think of the library, books and reading as positive and fun!
