Each week, your specially trained children's librarian creates a program of stories, songs and movement activities to share with you and your children. We hope to create a comfortable and happy atmosphere for all, while helping parents learn how to foster early literacy skills to prepare their child(ren) for learning how to read.

Early Literacy

King County Library System offers a wealth of information about Early Literacy, what kids need know before they learn how to read, in our efforts to help kids get Ready To Read!  The Reach Out and Read organization, a national nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud in pediatric exam rooms across the nation, also has a wonderful one-sheet brochure called "Developmental Milestones of Early Literacy" which explains where babies through preschool-age children should be developmentally in regards to Early Literacy and what parents can do at each stage. It is also available in Spanish and Chinese
